Math Competition

Math Competition
Posted on 05/25/2018
In December we had a 6th grade team of Marie Mason, Kamila Bedolla, Katherine Nunn and Christian Zannotti place third in the Perennial Math competition, hosted at the Molalla High School. We also had one individual on that team, Marie Mason, place third individually. Since Marie and the team placed in that competition they were able to go on to the National Perennial Math Competition. On May 16th the team competed in a virtual tournament against teams from all over the United States. The contest lasted one hour. A question would be given
and the team would have three minutes to solve. The first team to answer correctly would score the highest points and they would get to choose the next category. Right out of the gate our team got the first question correct in the fastest amount of time. The students were so excited to hear, "Molalla Middle, you have control of the board!" They proudly selected the next category (Geometry) and they stayed strong throughout the competition. They ended up tied for 11th in the contest. Earlier in the day Marie Mason competed in the individual
competition and tied for 26th place. Congratulations
to all the team members!
